The first annual celebrity "KO Cancer" charity MSBL baseball game was a success! Jim Sweeney originator and lead fund raiser of the Brockton Athletics in partnership with Franz Strassman of the Middlesex Brewers, Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital and the Brockton Rox were able to raise thousands of dollars for cancer programs. Celebrity Guests included Doug Flutie, Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd, Dana Barros and Ed Nottle. Singer "Vylette" wowed the crowd with the singing of our national anthem.

The event was played in front of a crowd of around a thousand people. The Brockton A's lost 12-2 to Middlesex but received a standing ovation concluding the game from the hometown fans for their effort in fund raising and game play. Planning is already underway for the 2nd annual "KO Cancer" Celebrity game in 2013 as a regular scheduled double header between 4 MSBL fundraising teams at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton.
